The Write Stuff?

Okay, try this one on for size.  What do you get when you pair a devoted reader of total fluff with a course that tackles serious writing techniques? You get one nervous student (ahem, that would be me).

Yes I enjoy reading, but definitely not the task of writing. After all isn’t that what writers are for? They do all the dirty work and we (the readers) sit back and enjoy the fruits of their labor. Preferably on a chilly winter’s night while curled up on a nice comfy sofa.  Ahh! What bliss.

But of course this blog entry isn’t about my perfect little vision of how the world should work.  It’s about ENG 112 and my expectations for this class.  First of all I hope that by the end of this course I can form a sentence that is so brilliant it will be worthy of a Pulitzer Prize. Just kidding Professor Rzicznek. Trust me, I am not asking you to be a miracle worker.  Besides, turning me into a prize-winning writer is something even Houdini couldn’t have pulled off.

If I learn how to write with more ease and confidence, this class will certainly live up to my expectations. I am looking forward to the Critique, simply because I have never done one, yet it sounds like an interesting challenge.  Well, I guess that’s all I have to share right now.

In the meantime, I’ve got a ton of new blogs to read.

You’ll do fine on your writing. This blog was really neat. Plus you’ve got all of us here to help you along with it. Maybe something you’re good at I’m not. Like I love to read, but I am a slow reader; however, I love to write. Well not like ten page papers about some boring topic, but I don’t know why, writing seems to come easy to me. So any help you need just give us all a holler. That’s what we are here for.

You’ll do fine in your writing. This blog was actually very neat. I like how you set it up. Plus, we can help eachother out. Just think if you were the reader (since you like to read) what kind of introduction and catchy sentences would keep you wanting to read the paper. You’ll be ok!

Your blog entry was very engaging. I love the title, and you have a great sense of humor. I am sure you will do well in this class. In time, writing with ease and confidence will seem less of a challenge.

    Charlotte,
I think are probably a much better writer than you give yourself credit for. After all, your blog is entertaining to read. You wrote it with creativity and humor. I’m impressed, not that that’s saying much. : ) Good luck in this class, and like the others said we are all here to help one another.

    Hi Gary,

Thanks for the post (and the kind words). This blog is sort of like writing an email. I’m okay with that style of writing, but the “real” thought-provoking stuff I tend to struggle with.

Good luck to you as well.
